Vital Displays vs OptiSigns

Broad app-rich signage

OptiSigns is the generalist default: a very broad platform with a 140+ app catalog, aggressive AI content tooling (OptiDev.ai), SOC 2 Type II, and SSO from the Pro Plus tier. It is capable and popular, but pricing tiers stack up (with add-ons), CAP alerting is gated to the $15 Pro Plus tier rather than bundled, and reviewers note awkward offline recovery.

CapabilityVital DisplaysOptiSigns
Multi-zone layouts & schedulingYes

Multi-zone layouts, packages, day/time schedules, and group inheritance

Yes

Split-zones and scheduling advertised

Offline-resilient playerYes

Browser player caches its manifest and keeps rendering through network loss

Partial

Offline supported, but reviewers report awkward offline recovery / manual re-login

Emergency / CAP alert takeover (bundled)Yes

Emergency alert takeover is bundled at the flat price — not a paid add-on. External-CAP consumption (InformaCast/Alertus/Rave feeds) is on the roadmap

CAP alerting gated to the $15 Pro Plus tier, not bundled at entry

Proof-of-play / playback loggingPartial

Roadmap: playback-confirmation logging is planned, not yet shipped

Not advertised

Work-order / CMMS boards and room & department status as a first-class content model

Not advertised

Broad app catalog; no work-order / room-status ops boards

Flat ~$49/site/mo — no per-screen charge and no device minimum

Not advertised

Per-screen pricing with add-ons and Enterprise minimums

PHI-free / fast security reviewYes

Deliberately PHI-free, ops-only posture designed to shorten IT security review

Not advertised

SOC 2 + optional on-prem, but no BAA advertised and a broad review surface

Self-host / on-prem optionPartial

Roadmap: single-tenant today; a self-host / on-prem option is planned

Partial

On-prem / private-cloud only at the $45 Enterprise tier (min 25 screens)

Based on publicly available materials as of September 2026, including OptiSigns's site. "Not advertised" means the capability was not described publicly — not that it can't be done. Items marked "Partial" for Vital Displays are on our roadmap and noted as such. Pricing reference: $10 / $12.50 / $15 (CAP unlocks here) / $30 / $45 per screen/mo; Enterprise min 25 screens (2026).

Where Vital Displays differs

Vital Displays bundles emergency / CAP alert takeover at a flat ~$49/site — no per-screen tax and no device minimum — and treats facilities-ops content (work-order / CMMS boards, room and department status) as a first-class content model, not a custom build. A deliberately PHI-free, ops-only posture keeps IT security review short. Where a capability is still on our roadmap — playback logging, external-CAP consumption, self-host — we mark it "Partial" rather than claim it.

When OptiSigns might fit you better

If you want the widest app catalog and the most active AI content tooling in the category, and per-screen pricing at your screen count works out, OptiSigns is a strong generalist with a large ecosystem.
